Establishment of our school

The former Aomori High School (for boys) and the former Aomori Girls’ High School were unified into Aomori High School on April 1st, 1950 (Showa 25).


History of the former Aomori High School (for boys)

1 On September 11th in 1900 (Meiji 33), founded as the Third Aomori Prefectural Junior High School in Nagashima, Ohno, Aomori City.

2 In 1909 (Meiji 42), the name was changed to Aomori Junior High School. In 1912 (Meiji 45), moved to the new buildings at 100-6 Namiuchi, Tsukurimichi, Aomori City.

3 In July 1945 (Showa 20), school buildings were burned out because of World War Ⅱ, so teachers taught lessons separately using some of the buildings of Aomori Municipal First Junior High School (formerly Aomori North High School) and dormitories of the naval factory workers.

4 In June, 1946 (Showa 21), former Fifth Infantry Regiment barracks were used as school buildings (Tsutsui school buildings).

5 On April 1st , 1948 (Showa 23), by the reform of the educational system, changed to Aomori High School.


History of the former Aomori Girls’ High School

1 On February 15th, 1907 (Meiji 40), founded as the Third Aomori Prefectural Higher Girls’ School, in Nowaki, Uramachi, Aomori City.

2 In 1909 (Meiji 42), the name was changed to Aomori Higher Girls’ School.

  In 1911 (Meiji 44), Girls’ Teachers School was established.

  In 1943 (Showa 18), Girls’ Teachers School was separated from the main school.

3 In July, 1945 (Showa 20), school buildings were burned out because of World War Ⅱ, so teachers taught lessons using some of the buildings of Aomori Municipal Tsukurimichi Elementary School.

4 In June, 1946 (Showa 21), former Fifth Infantry Regiment barracks were used as school buildings.

  In 1948 (Showa 23), Namiuchi school buildings (the place of former Aomori Commercial High School) were completed and moved there.

5 On April 1st , 1948 (Showa 23), by the reform of the educational system, changed to Aomori Girls’ High School.


History of the present Aomori High School

6 On April 1st, 1950 (Showa 25), under the decision of Aomori Education Committee, former Aomori High School (for boys) and former Aomori Girls’ High School were unified into Aomori High School. Classes were given in both the Tsutsui and Namiuchi school buildings.

7 On April 1st, 1951 (Showa 26), donated Namiuchi school buildings to Aomori Commercial High School, and all the students studied in the Tsutsui school buildings. The system of educating boys and girls together in the same buildings and with the same classes started.

8 In 1968 (Showa 43), construction of new school buildings was started.

  On September 11th, 1970 (Showa 45), moved there.

9 On March 9th, 1989 (Heisei 1), the secondary gymnasium (813㎡) was completed.

10 On February 1st, 2000, the Jyudo and Kendo Hall (861㎡) was completed.

11 On April 20th , 2000 (Heisei 12), the Indoor Practice Field (called Mugen Dome, 1,396㎡) was built and donated to the Aomori Prefectural government as the celebration for the 100th anniversary.

12 On September 9th , 2000 (Heisei 12), the 100th anniversary was celebrated.

13 On October 13th, 2001 (Heisei 13), large reconstruction of school buildings started.

14 On December 5th, 2002 (Heisei 14), the first period of reconstruction (special classrooms, 3,694㎡) was completed.

15 On August 5th, 2004 (Heisei 16) , the second period of reconstruction (administration office and normal classrooms, 1,993㎡) was completed.

16 On May 25th, 2006 (Heisei 18) the third period of reconstruction (administration office and normal classrooms, 2,819㎡) was completed.

  On May 26th, 2006, the fourth period of reconstruction (library building, 734㎡) was completed.

  On December 25th, 2006, the passage connecting buildings ( 72㎡) and all the other construction work were completed and the whole reconstruction was finished.

17 On September 12th, 2007 (Heisei 19), the new school building completion memorial ceremony was held.

18 On September 13th, 2010 (Heisei 22), the 110th anniversary was celebrated .

19 On January 31st , 2011 (Heisei 23), the primary gymnasium (1,035㎡) was completed.
