The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan (MEXT) started “The Super Global High Schools (SGH) Program” in 2014. Through this program, MEXT expects students to learn global issues, liberal arts and communication skills and think about how to overcome social problems that we face now, so that they will become talented world citizens in the future and play active roles in our global society.
Aomori High School was chosen as one of the “Super Global High Schools” in March 2014. From all over Japan, 246 high schools applied for this SGH program, and 56 schools were chosen, including our school.
Our school aims to nurture individuals who will play active roles globally, can express themselves in English, and have global mindsets through various workshops that will include drawing up business models under the economic plan of Aomori Prefectural Government, studying, and associating with students from various countries.
The SGH program lasts for a period of 5 years, from 2014 to 2019.
