SGH Lecture ②

On June 27, 2014, Ms. Masako Kikuchi, who worked at United Nations, gave us a lecture entitled “World Peace and Security”.

One country can’t solve the problems which threaten world peace (terrorism, developing nuclear weapons, poverty, starvation, civil war, and so on), so it is important for countries to cooperate from a neutral point of view.

Under those situations, the United Nations takes on a framework of multilateral talks and deals with the problems in cooperation with various international organizations. Ms. Kikuchi talked about her job at the United Nations High Commission for Refugees Belarus office, and she showed us a video of the refugees’ lives in the civil war in Syria.

She said, “Let’s start with getting to know global issues. Let’s make what you think visual. Let’s start with what you can do now. The way to solve a problem is not only one.”
