SGH Lecture ⑬

On November 19, 2014, Mr. Norimitsu Furusato, from the Department of Land and Infrastructure of the Aomori Prefectural Government, gave us a lecture entitled “Aomori Logistics Strategy”.

Aomori industries have had a geographical handicap that they were far from the national and world main market until now. On the other hand, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, it is recognized that Aomori has a good point: it is accessible from all directions on the sea, and it has a large potential as a distribution base.

Aomori Prefectural Government is now trying to overcome the barriers of distance, time, cost, and information, and arrange an environment where demand (consumption market) and supply (production market) meet smoothly. Based on the plan called “Aomori Logistics Strategy”, under the medium-long-term vision, the Aomori Prefectural Government is trying to develop a logistics base (smooth commercial distribution environment and the most suitable distribution environment), and aim at the expansion of the economic relationships with other areas in Japan and all over the world.
