SGH LectureⅠ-9

On October 21st, 2015, Associate Professor Katsushi Takashima from the Faculty of Humanities at Hirosaki University gave us a lecture entitled “Business Management Guidance”.

Although both Calbee and Koike-ya sell potato chips snacks at similar price and of almost the same taste, Calbee makes 5 times profit more than Koike-ya. It is business management to investigate such a difference.

It is important to make it clear who is the target customer and to whom you want to sell your product. For example, 70% customers of a flower shop in Hibiya, Tokyo is male. Because the shop implemented an order system through the internet, the number of male customers increased suddenly. A certain French car tire company published a restaurant guide book. Their aim is to make people go out eating by car and therefore wear their tires down more.

You will adopt a critical and logical way of thinking by learning the competitive strategy of companies. In addition, you will gain the ability to experience a variety of cultures and understand that there are multiple answers to one problem.
