On June 3, 2015, Lecturer Hideki Tanaka from the Department of Business Administration and Economics at Aomori Public University gave us a lecture entitled “Personnel Management”.

　Mr. Tanaka talked about the aims of the Japanese tourism industry and the present conditions and problems of the tourism industry in Aomori, especially the problems of working conditions of the people who engaged in the tourism business.

　The Japanese Government is aiming for the number of the overseas visitors to Japan to reach 30 million in 2030 (currently 10 million). The Aomori Prefectural Government is also aiming to establish an Aomori Brand: “AOMORI, where it is good to buy products, where it is good to visit and where it is good to live”.

　“Aomori, where it is good to visit” means the prosperity of the tourism industry, so it is one of the three major affairs of Aomori prefecture. Mr. Tanaka said that to make working conditions better is necessary for the people engaged in tourism industry.
