 On July 29th and 30th, 2017, Aomori Prefecture’s High School Parliamentary Debate was held. Students and teachers from seven high schools in Aomori took part. Ms. Chihiro Nakagawa, an assistant professor of Osaka Prefecture University (through Skype), and Mr. Takatsugu Oga, a promotion chairperson of the Parliamentary Debate Association (PDA), gave lectures and advice. A member of PDA and two students from the University of Tokyo cooperated as advisors.

<Comments of the students>

・I want to try English Debate again.

・I came to love English more.

・I could communicate with other students with English. It was fun to think about how to convey my thoughts in English.

・I was not able to express my thoughts well in English, but I could convey my thoughts somehow to other students by focusing on one viewpoint. The judge evaluated that point and I was happy.

・I want to do this kind of debate in school classes, because it is fun and a good experience for all students.
