Fieldwork in Singapore

From January 9th to 14th, our SGH (Super Global High School) class (made up of thirty five students) visited Singapore and conducted fieldwork there.

Firstly, they visited Nanyang Girls’ High School and studied together with the students for two days. Both groups of students were divided into groups and introduced their own culture and school life to each other. Our students gave presentations in English about their business models and both groups of students held discussions regarding them. It was really a wonderful opportunity for our students to talk with the Nanyang students and to learn about the life and culture in Singapore. We would like to thank the principal, the teachers, and students of Nanyang Girls’ High School.

Secondly, our students conducted questionnaire surveys and marketing research at local supermarkets, Chinatown and Orchard Street.

Finally, they visited the Yale-NUS college. They had one-to-one discussions with university students in English for approximately 40 minutes. They conducted questionnaire surveys on the campus, too.

Through meeting and talking with lots of Singaporean people, our students obtained valuable experience. They will surely make use of this experience and deepen their research activities.
