Visit to Robert D. Edgren High School

On January 8, 2016, 34 students conducted interviews with the students of Robert D. Edgren High School at Misawa Air Base.

Our students made pairs and interviewed American students, explaining the reason why they visited, introducing Aomori culture to them, asking their impressions of it, and asking questions according to their own research themes.

As a result, more or less, our students had good and positive impressions. They wrote in their reports, “I could make myself understood in English”, “I could understand what they say”, and “I need to study harder and expand my vocabulary to discuss things deeply.” Our students enjoyed talking with American students. Also, they felt that it was difficult to express their thoughts in a different language. They realized that English is an important way of communication.

We would like to thank the principal, all the teachers and students of Robert D. Edgren High School, and especially Mrs. Masako Saito, Vice President of Aomori International Relations Volunteer Association (AIVA), for organizing everything regarding this interview program.
